MAFC Kites vs Pompey in the Community
Result: 4–2 Win
A really lethargic start to today’s game. Not sure whether it was the heat or something else, but we were going through the motions and not quite clicking.
In the first quarter, we had most of the possession and created plenty of good chances, but found ourselves 2–0 down from counter-attacks.
The message between quarters was to find pockets of space, play in behind the defenders, and attack the channels. The first time we did this, we scored with ease. From there, we slowly grew into the game and quickly found our second.
In the second half, I noticed Pompey had changed formation and what they were looking to do. We made a few formation changes of our own, stopped them playing, and nullified their attacks. In doing so, we gave ourselves an attacking advantage and went on to secure the win with another two goals.
Overall, it was a fairly dominant performance, even though we were not at our best. The opposition coaches were very complimentary after the game about the football we played, the team setup, and the great attitude shown by the boys.
Well done lads. Enjoy your weekend & I’ll see you at training Monday.
Cheers,
J
